A moving house checklist for Sydney
Two weeks before
Walk both homes and write down the access, not just the address. Stairs, a lift that needs a booking, a loading zone, and a long carry from the street all change the day. Apartment buildings in the inner west, the east, and the CBD often want the lift booked before the truck is even ordered. Houses in the Hills and on the North Shore more often turn on the driveway and the parking.
Decide what is not moving. A removalist quote is only as clear as the list you give. If a piano, a spa bath, or an oversized sofa might need a hoist, say so now. We would rather name that on the quote than discover it at the kerb.

The week of the move
Pack clothes, books, and paper yourself if you like. Leave kitchens, glass, and art if you want us to pack them. Full packing and unpacking is available when you want to walk into a finished home rather than a hallway of cartons.
Label by room, not by a vague “miscellaneous”. The run sheet on the day checks significant pieces against that list. A sofa that has a right wall in the next house should be named, not left to whoever is holding the end of it.
Confirm parking and the lift the day before. Send both postcodes, the date, and a phone number that will be answered on the morning. The quote form is the short way to start that conversation.
Moving morning, and the other end
Clear a path from the door to the pieces that leave first. Shoes, rugs in the hallway, and a half-packed kitchen slow a crew more than an extra flight of stairs. Have the building manager’s number if the lift is shared.
At the new place, placement is the job. Furniture goes to the room it belongs in. We do not finish a family move by stacking the household in the hallway and leaving. If a piece has to wait — settlement, painting, a floor that is still drying — say so before the day so the gap is planned.
